Where do you start? What do you need? In fact why do you even need your team to be dynamic – is it a pre-requisite to success?

Truth is team dynamics are the intangible forces.

The ones you can’t SEE but you just KNOW when they’re not there!

One of the biggest frustrations of being a dentist or a dental practice owner or indeed a dental practice manager, is the belief they have the team from hell who just can’t implement or follow the simplest instruction!

This is team dynamics of a negative nature and not the ones you are after at all!

Having been that frustrated PM in the dim and distant past – I know just how frustrating, annoying and scream worthy negative team dynamics can feel! It can truly feel like you’re swimming against a VERY strong undercurrent of resistance all on your own……and that’s a pretty lonely place to be as you watch everyone else sail off in other directions.

So apart from get a new team, what can you effectively do to change the team dynamics to a positive one?

Stop searching for the missing Holy Grail of team dynamic it’s there whether you have introduced it or not. It’s like the default setting! Left to its own devices it will find its own level – the team being its creators or you take ownership of it and determine its flow.

Team dynamics and the one you are keen to influence are the conscious psychological forces that influence the direction of a team’s behaviour.

The components for creating your team dynamics are the nature of each team role, the personalities within the team, how well the team relate to each other and the environment of the workplace itself.

When team dynamics are bad you will experience conflict, resistance, demotivation, frustration and a missed goal success rate that seems to be running on a loop!

When team dynamics are good you will enjoy having your team around you, you are all motivated, focused on the same goals, the team performs much better as a team and they shine as individuals too.

I kid you not. The right team dynamics make that much difference and when implemented correctly I have seen practice results change almost overnight.
